This is Samiir's Aria from Samiir's Feast by Jorge Sosa. This opera was featured as a part of White Snake Projects' "Let's Celebrate!" where each short opera highlighted a holiday tradition, and how we experience them in America. This particular opera tells a small part of the resilient, true, journey of Samiir Muhammad, who made his way from Somalia to the US at only 15 years old over the course of 4 years. The opera looks through his eyes showing the relationship between Eid al-Adha and his first Christmas in America, while looking back at his journey to get here.
